On January 28, 2016, at approximately 3:30 p.m., deputies form the Sheriff's Gang Unit went to 907 Eureka St. in Bakersfield, to conduct a search of Jose A. Navarro per the terms of his probation on the Electronic Monitoring Program. The 900 block of Eureka is directly across the street from the Owens Intermediate School for children enrolled in 4th - 6th grades.
During a search of the residence, deputies located 2 ounces of methamphetamine, a loaded and stolen 9mm semi-automatic handgun, ammunition, marijuana, several hundred dollars in cash and paraphernalia indicative of the sale of controlled substances.
Navarro was arrested on charges which included possession of of a controlled substance for the purpose of sale, possession of a stolen firearm/ammunition by a felon and maintaining a house for the purpose of selling controlled substances.
Navarro was booked into the Kern County Central Receiving Facility where he is being held on $72,500.00 bail
