You can sit in a fire engine, explore a bus and honk horns this Saturday at the Kern County Library.
The county is holding the first Touch-A-Truck event. It gives kids a hands-on learning experience with trucks used in our communities, while meeting the heroes that work and serve with the machines.
Trucks that will be on display include an ambulance, animal services, crane truck, delivery trucks, dump truck, fire truck, GET bus, sheriff quad, and more.
Touch-A-Truck is happening at the Kern County Library at 701 Truxtun Avenue from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Beale Memorial Library is holding its Summer Reading Kickoff the same day. There will be face painting, 3D printing, button making, live music, crafts, and more.
Special guests include the 501st Legion, Teen, Miss and Mrs. Bakersfield and Hero for Hire Bakersfield.
There will be several food vendors available.
Parking is available at the City of Bakersfield lot and south of Rabobank and the railroad tracks between N and Q Streets.
