The first Honor Flight of the season took off Monday, giving local veterans a chance to see memorials built in honor of their service in Washington D.C. for the first time.
Sixteen veterans took off from Meadows Field Airport. Twelve of them are World War II veterans ages 90 and over,
The veterans will return Wednesday night around 8:30 p.m. The public is invited to welcome these veterans back home.
Honor Flight is a non-profit organization created to honor veterans with the mission of sending them to Washington D.C.
The next two flights are set for October.
