Honor Flight Kern County takes veterans to see memorials built for their sacrifices

A flight carrying veterans to Washington D.C. for Honor Flight Kern County is taking off early Wednesday morning. 

The flight is taking them to see memorials built to remember their sacrifices including the Capitol, WWII memorial and Arlington National Cemetery.

The Honor Flight leaves at 4:30 a.m. on Wednesday from Meadows Field Airport. 

Not only will former service men and women be on board, but so will 23ABC morning anchor Alex Batres. She is traveling with the veterans and will share their stories the rest of this week.

The Honor Flight will return this Friday, Oct. 27 at 8:30 p.m. to Meadows Field Airport where anybody who is interested can welcome them home.
