UPDATE (Oct. 31, 2016): Kern Public Health held a press conference to discuss the voluntary recall of potentially contaminated strawberries served at Kern County schools.
The strawberries may be contaminated with Hepatitis A, which ranges from a mild illness that lasts a few weeks to a serious disease lasting several months.
Hepatitis A can be prevented by vaccination. Persons who have consumed any infected product should see their healthcare provider.

The Greenfield School District held a press conference Friday afternoon to address recalled strawberries being served at their schools.
The district received notice for the voluntary recall Friday, but served the fruit Thursday in a breakfast smoothie.
The strawberries were potentially contaminated with Hepatitis A. About 16% of students in district might have consumed the smoothies.
It is unknown if any kids have become sick due to the problem.
