UPDATE (Sept. 27, 2016 1:44 p.m.) - Public Health Officials said Greenfield Market is back open with an A and Greenfield Meat Market is open with a "B". Both places opened late Monday.

Kern County Public Health Officials have closed Greenfield Market and Greenfield Meat Market in Southeast Bakersfield due to major health code violations.

The Greenfield Meat Market was closed on Friday after inspectors found a roach infestation near surfaces, packaging, and equipment along with rodent droppings inside an unused walk-in refrigerator.

Inspectors also found dead rodents inside of the unused fridge and next to cases of bottled water.

Food was also found in low temperatures which is a major violation.

The Greenfield Market was also inspected and they had a sewage overflow which is a major health code violation.

Both facilities are owned by the same owner but have separate permits which is why the health department inspected them separately.
