Five officer-involved shootings within Bakersfield Police this year

There have been five recorded officer-involved shootings within the Bakersfield Police Department this year so far. 

Four of those shootings were fatal: 

On January 24, 27-year-old Antonio Arturo Perez Garcia, a homicide suspect, was shot and killed during a traffic stop near Monterey Street and Alta Vista Drive.

On April 4th, 47-year-old Rogelio Vidal Landa, a robbery suspect, was fatally shot near Taft Highway and South Union Avenue following a traffic stop.

On August 30th, 22-year-old Isaac Lopez Cervantes was killed by BPD officers on Pacheco Road following a call of domestic dispute.

On November 4th, 20-year-old Augustus "AJ" Crawford was shot and killed by BPD Officer Warren Martin following a traffic stop on Planz Road near South H Street.

There was one that was not fatal:

On May 19, officers were involved in a non-fatal shooting of 19-year-old Jesus Bello, who was shot at by officers but was not struck.

The Kern County Sheriff's Department has been involved with only shooting this year involving a deputy. That case was where a deputy shot a dog.
