California State University, Bakersfield President Horace Mitchell today issued the following statement about the death of CSUB graduate Melissa Ramirez in the Las Vegas tragedy:
“We are terribly saddened to learn that we lost a member of our CSUB family in this senseless act of violence. Our entire CSUB campus community is heartbroken, and we send our deepest sympathies to Melissa Ramirez’s family and friends.”
Melissa Ramirez graduated from CSUB in 2014 with a bachelor’s degree in business administration.
The flags at CSUB were lowered on Monday, Oct. 2, and will remain lowered in honor of Melissa Ramirez and other victims of the Las Vegas tragedy through sunset on Friday, Oct. 6.
UPDATE (Oct. 3 11:36 a.m.): The family has set up a gofundme to cover memorial costs.

A CSUB graduate was reported missing after the shooting in Las Vegas by family via social media.
As of Tuesday morning, family and friends were posting that they had identified the body of Melissa Ramirez.
