Update (11:45 a.m.): The CHP says eastbound lanes of traffic on Rosedale Highway are shut down near Fruitvale Avenue. Traffic is being rerouted at Patton Way.
The CHP says four cars were involved. CHP officials say one driver crashed into multiple cars. That driver has been taken into custody by the Kern County Sheriff's Office.

The California Highway Patrol is responding to multiple crashes along Rosedale Highway on Monday.
According to the CHP, crashes were reported on Fruitvale and Mohawk just before 11:30 a.m.
Initial reports indicate that major injuries were sustained in at least one of the crashes.
