CHP: Fatal crash on WB SR178 near Canebrake Rd.

CHP officials received reports at around 10:22 AM, Saturday of a fatal crash on WB Sr178 near Canebrake Way and Pine Hollow Rd. in Onyx.

According to the CHP, A woman and her 3 children (2 year old, a 8-year-old and a 1-year-old) were involved in the crash.

On Sunday, officials said that Christy Tucker was driving in her 1998 Mitsubishi Montero westbound on SR 178 at CaneBrake Rd.

CHP officials said Tucker was traveling at approximately 50 mph and had to be pulled to the right shoulder to tell her 8-year-old daughter to use her seatbelt.

Officials added when Tucker looked back, she jerked the steering wheel to the left causing the car to overturn approximately four times, ejecting all unrestrained three children, all of which sustained major injuries. 

Officials say alcohol or drugs do not appear to be a factor in the crash.

The 8-year-old and 2-year-old were transported to Kern Medical. Their conditions are unknown at this time.

While the mother and her 1-year-old child were taken to Kern Valley Hospital where the baby died from its injuries.

CHP identities the other children as 8-year-old Kaitlynn Milner and 2-year-old Kenzie Frazier.

The identity of the 1-year-old has not been released at this time.

CHP is still investigating this case.
