One person is dead following a crash in Shafter on Tuesday morning.

According to the California Highway Patrol, there was a collision between an SUV and a sedan at around 6:30 a.m. at Scaroni and Fresno avenues.

The SUV was carrying six people, including four children. One adult and a child suffered major injuries. The others suffered minor injuries. All were taken to Kern Medical.

The CHP says the SUV was headed northbound on Scaroni when it hit the sedan, which was going west on Fresno.
