With news breaking of doctors being disciplined and charged with negligence, misconduct and several other violations, the California Medical Board is now fighting back.

The Board is launching a new iPhone app that will give people access to any changes to their practitioner's license status, where their office is, and other records via their cell phone.

The Deputy Director of the Medical Board of California says this new and first-ever mobile app will give patients the information they need at the palm of their hand.

The app is free and with it you can track up to 16 care providers. If anything is changed, updated, or if your doctor is in trouble, you will receive an automatic notification directly to your phone.

Although this information can be found on their website, the Board says it wants to make sure the information patients need is always easily accessible.

The app is only available for iPhone, but the Medical Board says it plans to develop applications for windows and android devices.
