Bakersfield Police officers arrested a person for DUI in a fatal crash that occurred on Panama Lane early Saturday morning.
BPD officials said at around 12:05 am, they were dispatched to Panama Lane and Colony Street regarding an injury collision.
When officers arrived, they located a man suffering from major injuries.
He was transported to a local hospital where he later died from his injuries.
According to BPD, The driver of one of the involved parties was identified as 27-year-old Huriel Machuca.
It was determined that Machuca was driving under the influence of alcohol.
He was arrested and booked into the Kern County Jail for felony DUI.
The intersection of Panama Lane and Colony Street is closed due to the investigation.
The victim’s name will be released at a later time by the Kern County Coroner’s Office.
