Traffic is moving again on northbound Interstate 5 near Laval Road after a fiery big rig crash and car pileup Tuesday night closed three lanes for nearly 12 hours.
According to initial reports, a big rig rolled over and may have caused a chain reaction crash Tuesday night around 9 p.m. All four lanes were closed until around midnight.
Crews on scene reported the big rig was on fire and as many as 11 cars are involved in the crash.
It appears the crash and resulting fire may have caused a small grass fire in the area.
Traffic was moving at a crawl as it was backed up for about 5 miles Wednesday morning.
CHP was reporting a small fire broke out on the right hand shoulder at 6:30 a.m. A Sig Alert was also issued.
Three lanes remained closed until just before 8:30 a.m.
