The Kern County Fire Department along with Bakersfield Police Department responded to a rollover crash on Morning Drive just south of Highway 178 around 9:00p.m. Friday night.

Officials said when they arrived they found two men with fatal injuries. Three other occupants, including the driver, were outside of the vehicle and were transported to a local hospital with moderate injuries.

Officials said it appears the driver of a small white Chevrolet sedan was driving southbound on Morning Drive from State Highway 178 at an unknown speed. The driver passed another vehicle that was traveling southbound and began to merge back into the southbound lane when, for unknown reasons, the driver drove off an embankment.

The two passengers who sustained fatal injuries were ejected from the vehicle.

Officials said the driver, Tony Bailey, 22, was driving under the influence of alcohol. He was arrested and booked into the Kern County Jail for felony DUI and two counts of vehicular manslaughter.

The 2500 block of Morning Drive was closed for several hours due to the investigation.
