BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — The Kern County Library is now accepting submission for their OverDrive platform.

The platform showcases local authors’ works in the digital collection. By being a part of our eLibrary collection, Kern writers and illustrators will be featured and have their works made available to the public with a Kern County Library card.

Submission guidelines are as follows: For inclusion in KCL’s local author collection, the author or creator must currently reside in and have lived in Kern County for at least five years. Illustrators are also eligible.

File specifications are as follows: It is recommended that titles be submitted in an EPUB format. Please also include a cover image and thumbnail.

Appearances: For local author appearances and events, local authors may work directly with individual library branches to plan an author event.

Print Copies: Physical copies of local author works are kept at local branches and made available as “honor” checkouts. Print titles of Local History nonfiction are welcome and should be submitted to the Library through the local library branch, where they will be considered, if appropriate, for the Local History collection housed in the Local History Room at the Beale Memorial Library.
